Family Vacation (Part 2)

After our trip north we returned home and Gramma and Papa and cousin Nico followed us. They stayed with us for four fun filled days. I didn't think we planned to do much but we ended up doing quiet a bit and having loads of fun:) We played and enjoyed Nico's musical gifting, we went to a local pool for the evening, enjoyed the fire pit, the boys went fishing and we cooked up their catch for our dinner. Nathan went to his first movie at a theater~Cars 2, he made it through 80% of it which was pretty good for him. Starbucks was a regular pit stop, we went to Ballocity which both kids thoroughly enjoyed, and then there was our canoe trip and picnic at Blue Marsh. I think that was all besides just hanging around and enjoying each other. Thank you Lord for such sweet fellowship and fun memories with our family!

Family Vacation (Part 1)

We had a wonderful time during Steve's shutdown week and are very thankful to the Lord for giving us such wonderful memories with my family. The first part of the week we headed north and stayed with my Gramma for a night in Corry PA. We hadn't been to her home since before we had kids. We all had a good time and were able to see some of her sisters as well.
After saying good-bye to my Gramma we headed to Erie for a small gathering with some of the girls I graduated high school with. I haven't seen them in over 15 years. It was very nice to see them and meet some of their children.
After lunch with my friends we traveled to Ohio to stay with by brother's family for a couple days and boy did we have a good time there. The kids played and played and played and ran and ran and then played some more. Lydia loved playing in the sand making "pizza", LOVED Emily's bunny, and loved playing with her cousins. However her Uncle Rob is still not a favorite on her list:(
Nathan enjoyed everything with water, everything with his cousins, and yes he enjoyed his Uncle Rob...especially the tractor ride he took the kids on. (Lydia would have no part of that.) We visited a train that was parked at a loading station although I don't think we really were supposed to be there but...the kids had fun.
And this was one of my highlights. July 4th night we didn't have fireworks but Nathan had a blast eating smore's and hanging out with his cousins playing with...fire?? No, no, it was those things that you light and they start coiling like a snake...I have no idea what they are called but this 4 year old was captivated.
more to come

Locust Shell Hunt

Nathan and I had a great time in our backyard hunting for locust shells today. When I was a little kid I always enjoyed finding them, locusts are a pretty amazing creation. Nathan was so proud of his collection and couldn't wait to show his Daddy. While Nathan and I were googling locusts I came across this website: http://www.nowyoufound.us/lessonsforkids/animals/cicada-shell-–-often-called-“locust-shell”/

Nathan

This is a month overdue...but I was able to get some cute photos of Nathan that we used as part of a Father's Day gift for Daddy. He is such a handsome little boy and it's pretty easy to get a good smile out of him too:) Mommy love his smile and his giggles!
