Canoeing Time!

It was a beautiful day, perfect weather and great family time, thank you Lord for blessing us with beautiful family times. We took an evening to canoe at a local marsh and just spent a couple hours rowing around, swimming and exploring. hopefully we will get another chance this year to do it again.
This is Nathan's favorite thing to do and Lydia's first time..they both had a blast.

Lydia's New Love

Worms! Yes, that's right I said worms. She loves them and doesn't want to let them go. She gets her brother to lift the rocks so she can catch them and then she will hold them and squeeze them until they "fall asleep".

This is Lydia telling me that they love her too...I don't think so honey:)
Our local library had a special on worms and I'm so glad we were able to attend, it was very well done and the kids learned a lot. Actually since this program Lydia has been doing better holding them for just a little while and then letting them go. The worms say a big THANK YOU to the library staff:)

2nd Annual Cow Day

First Family Campout

And the last one for a loong time:)
No really, we had a great time for the most part.
Nice campfire
Catching firefly's
And then it was time to go to bed. The kids were excited and we had a good time being silly together and we slept well until about 3:30-4AM. That's when Lydia woke up and there was no going back to sleep, just tried to not wake up the other cherub...which went well until about 4:15am when the beautiful cardinal began singing right outside our tent...and then Lydia needed to return the chirp. By 4:30 they were both up and running around the tent, Mommy and Daddy were their obstacle course, bruises were being given out and by 5:00 we thought it best to have breakfast so the neighbors would not be woken up. By 6:00 Daddy had everything packed up and put away and Mommy declared it nap time:) We all slept until 9!

Papa & Gramma Time

My parents came to visit the first week in July and we had a great time! It was also the 150th anniversary of Gettysburg (one of the main reasons they chose this week to visit:) I had never been there and it was really humbling to see the sacrifice and bravery of the men who fought in the Civil War. The kids thought the reenactments and the canons were great too:)
This was our attempt of a family picture...don't look too close, I did a really poor job switching Lydia's due to her refusal to look at the camera if someone she didn't know was taking the picture.
What a nut he is!
We had great family times all week, lots of good food and fellowship!
Black raspberry pie! My favorite and I had two very ambitious helpers picking them this year...what a difference that makes!
Did I mention we had lots of good family time...and Emily and Tommy were such a blessing to have. They are great cousins who want to spend all their time playing with my kids. I so enjoyed having them and only wish the eldest was able to come too.

And these two were cut out of the same mold I think and were joined at the hip all week...I loved watching them play:)

Season Finale

Nathan finished his first season well and enjoyed every game. Proud of our son for sticking with it and giving his best!
